Hello and Welcome

JOHN HOGAN, LECTURER IN POLITICAL SCIENCE

My research focuses on how policy paradigms can help us to understand policy development and change, and developing improved policy measures to ensure political transparency in democracies.

I have published extensively in international political science journals on comparative public policy. I have written and edited a number of books on policy paradigms, global lobbying regulation policies, Irish politics and society, and research methodologies. I am a reviewer for some of the leading political science journals in the world and am a regular panel convener, chair, discussant and participant at the APSA, MPSA and PSA and ECPR conferences.

Having previous taught American politics in Dublin City University, a DIT Teaching Fellow, I lecturer on Irish politics and international political economy. I am a founding director of the DIT Research Centre for Business, Society & Sustainability.

I have consulted with and advised the Irish, Czech, UK governments, and the EU Parliament, on issues surrounding lobbying regulation policy, its regulation and matters to do with transparency and accountability.

An IRCHSS Research Fellow for the duration of both my MA and PhD (1999-2001; 2002-2005), I conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Political Science, Trinity College Dublin.
I welcome inquiries from potential research students (research masters or Ph.D) particularly in the areas of policy studies and lobbying regulation policy.
